I still find myself ready at times to call my Dad to tell him some anecdote or little incident before I remember he died -- in 1995; the same with my brother (dead in 2010) and my mother (dead last December)and so it goes.
I love that you've shared the comments from Andrew's commemoration, testaments to the gentle, remarkable man he was, the spirit that lives on. As you say, "the magic of life" -- yours too, dear heart. Thank you for sharing as always, with your exceptional wisdom and generosity.S.E.Ingrahamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02135141369161538082noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4363507590356347941.post-50388814364471200432009-10-25T23:04:17.000+11:002009-10-25T23:04:17.000+11:00It's a big, wide, wonderful world we live in, ...It's a big, wide, wonderful world we live in, "Bucky".

Away with the houds!

To the hunt! There are amazing innovations happening quietly across the planet and scientists are uncovering facts that reveal the vastness of the Universe.
You have introduced me to a new word that I wasn't familiar with: abiotic that led me to a new field of knowledge and maybe a new article to follow up on "Bucky".
We'll see, but it's exciting and extraordinary.Andrew E Wade - Author (1929-2012)https://www.blogger.com/profile/04033084600244308819noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4363507590356347941.post-28660576499176031832009-10-17T21:34:30.830+11:002009-10-17T21:34:30.830+11:00Inspirational, Andrew! Well worth all the time and thought you must have put into it.

At the moment I believe the line: "with an emphasis on tapping abundant renewable energy resources" is the weak link if this refers to wind, solar and wave power... but if one accepts that oil, coal and gas are close to unlimited (and if the concept of abiotic oil is correct then oil is forever) it is a wonderfully positive vision.

Wind, solar and wave don't cut it... just nice dreams. Coal, oil and gas do; and beyond them we have nuclear and other exotics.

Right now, though, the mission is to render harmless power-hungry politicians and their ilk who will sell us all for many, many pieces of silver. Sell us into slavery is probably not too strong a statement.

When we have them under control, or lock and key, then the dreams can flower, for humanity is a wonderful thing and quite capable of reaching for, and gaining, the stars.Roger Vaughan Carrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11359216202681656960noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4363507590356347941.post-46634756151470810112007-11-05T08:55:00.000+11:002007-11-05T08:55:00.000+11:00Seeing for myself the present day muzzling of reve...Seeing for myself the present day muzzling of revelations that confound establishment science, I am appalled. Surely it cannot be considered ethical to hail the accumulation of great wealth by a kleptomaniac elite as the high point of global economic rationalism, while our children play doomsday computer games on a planet in its environmental death throes; And deluding ourselves that our religious establishments and irresponsible democracies provide us with an ethical global role model that we are entitled to impose on lesser states by way of military might, is hypocrisy of a most dangerous form, particularly when we continue to ignore the logic of the rediscovered ethical science.

Australian universities, by holding to a scientific ethos that can no longer be logically sustained, obscure higher order thinking and continue to advance technologies that degrade our natural capital and destroy the potential for Australia's future healthy growth and development.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02417706230353089767noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4363507590356347941.post-31445704967153206332007-10-26T18:32:00.000+10:002007-10-26T18:32:00.000+10:00Robert Pope was incorrect stating that Malthus in ...Robert Pope was incorrect stating that Malthus in the East India Company supervised Darwin's voage on the Beagle, it was Henslow. However, he was quite correct in pointing out that Malthus' work, as an economic authority within the East India Company did influence Darwins theory of evolution. The author Dr Theodore Hall, in his book Avoiding Extinction, makes this quite clear in his artitcle titled "The Malthusian Wolf in Darwinian Clothing." Pope's comparision of the physics law govering western religious dogma at that time to the physics law governing present global economic rationalism is a brilliant observation. It allows for the construction of a fundamental milestone in humanity's struggle to become free of the cruel dictatorship imposed by a science based upon completely false metaphysical assumptions.degs arthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13492513171761322274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4363507590356347941.post-67990077798258793372007-10-26T17:59:00.000+10:002007-10-26T17:59:00.000+10:00This comment has been removed by the author.degs arthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13492513171761322274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4363507590356347941.post-27494164197182321202007-10-26T17:58:00.000+10:002007-10-26T17:58:00.000+10:00This comment has been removed by the author.degs arthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13492513171761322274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4363507590356347941.post-22751494233086269082007-10-23T14:25:00.000+10:002007-10-23T14:25:00.000+10:00Re Roger Carr's comments. "Darwinian theory obeyed Church law" refers to both Darwinian theory of evolution and Church doctrine being governed by a physics law prohibiting evolution being linked to the workings of an infinite universe. Re "suppression of dissent". Okay, one is no longer burnt alive by legal decree, but just try and argue about the collapse of the 20th Century scientific worldview in any Australian university and you will find entrenched dissent, especially if you mention global economic rationalism being based upon an outdated physics concept.
Robert PopeAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17898970766702673114noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4363507590356347941.post-68887979604049972292007-10-23T12:37:00.000+10:002007-10-23T12:37:00.000+10:00Robert Popes' views appear to have come from a lif...Robert Popes' views appear to have come from a lifetime of thought and active mathmatical search. it IS clear that the 2nd law rules and is hard to rebutt within academia. Just try and present a physics paper at an Australian university that does not comply with the 2nd law and see what happens. And of course the megalopic economic interests dont want to change things as they can continue to run the planet down cos the 2nd law says it's all going to end anyway.
